So its a over-played meme Shit (insert group of people) Say. Doesn’t matter because it hasn’t been done well in Des Moines and there is alot of shit we like to say there that is awesome or funny. My good friend and director Ben Godar wrote a great simple script and they filmed it a couple weeks ago. I got to work through tons of takes to get these nuggets of greatness. And then we released it. After two full days it has raked in over 45,000 views. I have been astonished. Its been my most successful video yet. Well go ahead and enjoy!

New music video from Mitch Gettman directed and edited by yours truly. Check it out here: http://hearnebraska.org/content/stay-me-gettman-music-video

If you’re like me, you might have heard of Mitch before. At 15, Mitch started posting videos on his youtube account of acoustic versions of some of his influences like Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and U2. With view counts in the hundreds of thousands, he found an audience online. His reception helped to form a band here in town and he has been playing for almost two years now. With only the acoustic songs I had seen online, I was blown away with the mature and rocking sound of his new album. Gettman has written a solid album of mad bittersweet characters yearning after love, life, and happiness. In working on this video, we mused on the album title, a Jack Kerouac quote. We wanted to project what one does when errant love runs off. We both agreed that fireworks were a centerpiece image, exploring wonder and danger, energy and contemplation. Take a moment and let the sweet release of this video set in while fireworks make your heart grow fonder.

Barley Street Tavern is a last call bar — a great place to throw the last one back, wrap a few hugs around old friends, and sing along with the final band. A delayed flight allowed me to see only the last band at the OEAA showcase July 8. Alt-country rockers The Big Deep were keeping eyes and ears awake with their lively show.

Tightly packed on the small stage, the band ripped a set of fun riffs packed with stories of romantic pratfalls and late-night existential philosophy sessions. It was the perfect end to my long day. This set helped The Big Deep win the last local MAHA Music Festival spot.

Here’s the second in a series of One-Take-Wonderful videos I shot. Andrew Janousek plays in Rock Paper Dynamite who you should see anyways, but here its just Andrew playing a simple song for you.

Sometimes Ingrained is simply me, a camera, and my trusty audio recorder. I was wondering Benson looking for something to shoot and walked into the Barley once again to find Andrew Ancona of Noah’s Ark Was A Spaceship playing solo. The dark night was perfect for the sad story of the song Dark Moon. Enjoy this little nugget.

In continuing to post Ingrained videos I wondered why no one had seen this video. Seems with a mis-click I had left this poor video unviewable by any but me. So this is a filmflam exclusive of Merry Christmas in Outer Space by Kyle Harvey.

Whoops Angry Birds IRL, totally missed this. Awesome execution of a great ad spot. Go go big budgets and production design!

Also terrible use of Magic Bullets in the edit. Why such heavy vignette and blur?

Rob Zombie does a Woollite commercial. i’m dumbfounded but ok its done well and creepy and horrific and slightly sexual. Thoughts?

Nice Gaslight Anthem music video. Great set design, fun
“frozen” moments with good breather holder, good grading, but a little heavy on the blur effect. What do you think?

YouTube version of the Gaslight Anthem video I cut with Director Kevin Slack.

Wow this turned out great! Check this video of Phantasmagoria steadily rocking this hit known as Bats. Listen for all the great samples and found sounds. Hypnotic. Shot in one take on a dark Detroit neighborhood street for Love Drunk tour.

Something epic this way comes from Danger Mouse, Jack White, Norah Jones and some sauve Italian guy! Spaghetti western sex music.

The circumstances surrounded this shoot might make you laugh or cry but this video can’t help but make you smile.

Just dropped!

It’s dreary, drizzling and gray across most of Nebraska, today. It’s the kind of weather that sours moods and turns eyes to the sidewalk, but on a rooftop in Brooklyn, a man in a dapper suit sings optimistically of the bright side of life. This Love Drunk video posted today on HearNebraska.org is Ace Reporter performing “Untouched and Arrived,” a song of affirmation and hope.

Just try to stay gray and downtrodden after watching it.

This video is blowing up. Check out Philly punkers, the Menzingers rock a one-take in the Ava House, an old DIY space in South Philly. This is part of the Love Drunk tour I’ve been helping with, 17 bands, 15 days, 13 cities all for the love of video and music making.

Way too much radness just for me, yeah go ahead and listen!
