Barley Street Tavern is a last call bar — a great place to throw the last one back, wrap a few hugs around old friends, and sing along with the final band. A delayed flight allowed me to see only the last band at the OEAA showcase July 8. Alt-country rockers The Big Deep were keeping eyes and ears awake with their lively show.
Tightly packed on the small stage, the band ripped a set of fun riffs packed with stories of romantic pratfalls and late-night existential philosophy sessions. It was the perfect end to my long day. This set helped The Big Deep win the last local MAHA Music Festival spot.
Here’s the second in a series of One-Take-Wonderful videos I shot. Andrew Janousek plays in Rock Paper Dynamite who you should see anyways, but here its just Andrew playing a simple song for you.
Sometimes Ingrained is simply me, a camera, and my trusty audio recorder. I was wondering Benson looking for something to shoot and walked into the Barley once again to find Andrew Ancona of Noah’s Ark Was A Spaceship playing solo. The dark night was perfect for the sad story of the song Dark Moon. Enjoy this little nugget.
In continuing to post Ingrained videos I wondered why no one had seen this video. Seems with a mis-click I had left this poor video unviewable by any but me. So this is a filmflam exclusive of Merry Christmas in Outer Space by Kyle Harvey.
I just realized I never posted this kickass video of Kyle Harvey playing his Christmas From Outer Space CD live at The Barley Street Tavern. People came dressed as alien and spaceships and Kyle who normally is very minimalist dressed up in a full space suit. He filled the room with lazers and balloons and hip-hop drum beats under his sparse guitar playing. It was a night to remember and I’m glad I could catch it.
